We talk a lot about the various features on your Volvo that can help increase your car's fuel economy. And while these features are plentiful, there are also things that you can do to help make your car even more fuel efficient.

Below we have complied 3 tips to help you save more at the pump:

1) Be a Courteous Driver

There are many reasons to be a courteous driver, but you may be surprised that by not giving in to your road rage, you may actually be saving yourself money. Aggressive driving is one of the most common ways in which people waste gas from speeding to sudden braking and acceleration. This constant strain on your gas tank does eventually take its toll by lowering your gas mileage by over 33%, or by about $0.10 - $0.32 per gallon.

2) Put Your Car on a Diet

Cars are very heavy (yes, we know, thank you, Capt. Obvious), but drivers sometimes forget how heavy their car is by shouldering it down with even more weight. It's already been proven that a lighterweight car means better gas mileage, so lose the extra-weight in the trunk and on the roof. According to the government run site, fueleconomy.gov, "Avoid keeping unnecessary items in your vehicle, especially heavy ones. An extra 100 pounds in your vehicle could reduce your MPG by up to 2%."

3) Don't Speed

Another Capt. Obvious moment, but once again, a lot of drivers don't seem to tie their speeding with why their constantly refueling at the gas pump. Fueleconomy.gov says that you lose $0.22 per every 5mph you go over 50mph. So if you're going 75 in a 60mph zone, you're not only risking lives, you're also costing yourself close to a dollar every time you get behind the wheel.
