Volvo debuted its all-new Concept 26 interior design at the Los Angeles Motor Show this year. A gorgeous new concept for luxury autonomous vehicles, this new concept looks to incorporate everyday life in to Volvo’s new line of self-driving cars.
“Volvo Concept 26 addresses the notion that driving can still be fun and liberating on the right day and on the right road but that some parts of driving, notably the daily commute in many metro areas, is stressful, frustrating and even broken. By providing drivers the choice of when to drive or delegate driving, we are able to retain the love and freedom of the open road while fixing the broken commute,” said Anders Tylman-Mikiewicz, General Manager of the Volvo Monitoring and Concept Center.

The concept cabin was developed with Volvo’s Scalable Product Architecture, which the automaker uses on its current line of cars. This new interior provides the drivers with three modes: Drive, Create and Relax. The “Drive” mode allows the people to manual drive the car, while the “Create” mode lets passengers use the foldable tray table, built-in table interface and flat-screen monitor to do everything from work to watching their favorite TV show. Finally, the “Relax” model gives passengers the opportunity to settle into a reclined seat, while the car takes you through more “peaceful” content on the media screens.

This new concept is very exciting as it concentrates more on the car’s cabin than on just the autonomous technology that will allow the car to steer itself. For many future drivers, interior cabin comfort and technology will be just as important as the autonomous tech featured in their vehicles, so we are excited to see Volvo get ahead of the game with this gorgeous new concept.
