Volvo is known for being the brand that keeps on innovating and when it comes to electric and hybrid cars there’s no exception.

The automaker has just announced that it will be expanding its lineup of all-electric and plug-in hybrid cars over the next few years, culminating in a new line of cars that will include the new XC90 T8 TwinEngine plug-in, a PHEV S90 sedan and an all-electric car.

The electric car will debut in 2019, and while we don’t have many details to go off of, the car should offer a wide driving range, as well as a bevy of impressive in-car technology and luxury features that Volvo customers have come to expect.

"We believe that the time has come for electrified cars to cease being a niche technology and enter the mainstream," Volvo President and CEO Håkan Samuelsson said. "We are confident that by 2020, 10 percent of Volvo's global sales will be electrified cars."

The next four years are going to be very interesting for the automotive industry, as it works toward a new future filled with electric cars, hybrids, plug-ins, and of course, the infamous autonomous vehicles. For now, take a look at our current selection of new and used Volvo cars near Dallas.
