Last time we wrote about the S90 it was covered in camouflage and there were few details about its features and powertrains, but that’s all changed now! Check out images of the new model below and continue reading our 2017 Volvo S90 review to learn more about the sedan.
DESIGN
The 2017 S90 is a replacement for the outgoing 2016 S80 that you see pictured below. The new sedan differs greatly, offering styling cues that were pulled from the redesigned XC90 SUV and the two-door Volvo Concept Coupé that was called “Aston Martin-ish” in a Jalopnik review. An attractive new grille and Thor’s Hammer lights are just a few exquisite styling features on the S90’s exterior. Inside, a premium look and feel are attained with high-quality wood, metal and leather materials. In addition, the dashboard was designed around the iPad-sized center screen, so technology is truly accentuated.

GAS & HYBRID POWERTRAINS
The 2017 S90 picks up the XC90’s super- and turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and eight-speed automatic transmission. Also notable, the S90 will include a plug-in hybrid powertrain that combines this engine with an electric motor and battery to deliver 410 horsepower. Plus, a new chassis and suspension help deliver driving characteristics that are sure to impress.
SEMI-AUTONOMOUS TECHNOLOGIES
The latest edition of Volvo’s Pilot Assist system will come standard on the 2017 Volvo S90 in Plano, Texas. It can speed up, slow down/stop the car and control steering when lanes are properly marked. On top of this, the newest version of the system can also do this at highway speeds (up to 80 mph) and no vehicle needs to be in front of the car for it to work.
Shoppers should also expect many of the features on the Volvo S80 to carry over to the new S90, such as Bluetooth Hands-Free Phone & Audio Streaming, navigation, smartphone integration, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, keyless entry and ignition, collision warning/mitigation technology and heated front seats.
