Pulling ahead of the competition, the Volvo XC90 has been named the North American Truck of the Year for 2016. However, this luxurious truck is no stranger to winning this award. The XC90 also scored high enough to win it in 2003.

Comfort, driving dynamics, innovative technology, as well as the XC90’s charismatic design, made it easy for the 2016 panel of 53 independent automotive journalists to give this lavish truck the green light to receive the award. “We are absolutely thrilled that the XC90 has won this prestigious and most respected award,” said Lex Kerssemakers, President and CEO of Volvo Car USA, “and there is a lot more to come. By 2019 Volvo will have a totally renewed product portfolio. By then the all-new XC90 will be the oldest car in the showroom.”

Over the years, Volvo has reached many major milestones. One of those being the addition of low-speed semi-autonomous drive technology to the XC90 – making it the first of Volvo’s lineup to have the component. Putting safety first, the Swedish automaker is committed to eradicating serious injury or deaths in its cars by 2020 with its autonomous drive functionality.
