It started with the new XC90 and has since expanded to other models in the Volvo lineup. What are we referring to exactly?
Design language.
It’s what informs a brand’s signature look and it’s a big part of what separates one automaker from another. Volvo’s brand design language truly stands out among the pack, and we’re not the only ones who think so. The automaker recently earned the 2016 Brand Design Language Award from the international Car Design Award jury at an event in Turin, Italy.
Volvo beat out automakers like Jaguar, Mercedes-Benz, Renault and other brands, truly proving the sophistication of its design language. Volvo’s exceptional vehicle styling is best represented by the redesigned XC90 as well as the all-new 2017 Volvo S90, and we’re sure to see it implemented more in coming years.
“The Volvo family contains many different characters – the strong and refined types, the elegant and sophisticated, the dynamic and the youthful. What we have done with the brand design at Volvo is to provide room for each of these characters, these expressions, to shine through while still paying homage to our tremendous heritage,” said Thomas Ingenlath, Senior Vice President, Design, Volvo Car Group. “Each car we design is unmistakably a Volvo, but it also has a unique personality.”
