What if filling your gas tank, washing your car or getting an oil change could be done at the click of a button? We’ve all dreamed it, and now Volvo aims to make it a reality. The automaker is developing a mobile concierge service called Volvo On Call that would bring the services you need directly to you.
Volvo conducted extensive research which showed that over 70 percent of Volvo drivers desire fuel services at their fingertips and 59 percent want their car picked up and serviced for them. Using this research, the automaker developed Volvo On Call, which officially launched its pilot program in San Francisco in November.
“Imagine parking your car in the morning at work and when you head home your car has been serviced, cleaned and refuelled. These are the kind of services we want to deliver to our customers. Our research shows that people spend hours every week doing these small errands – we want to give that time back to Volvo drivers, so they can do something more valuable instead,” said Björn Annwall, Senior Vice President, Global Consumer Experience at Volvo Car Group.
About 300 Volvo XC90 and S90 owners have access to the app, which allows them to view services available in their area and order them from the location of their choice. Once they make an order, the app sends an authorized Volvo service provider a digital key, which they use to access the vehicle. However, the digital key expires once services are performed and the car is returned to the customer or a designated location.
While we don’t know the future of this mobile app quite yet, we are excited to see how Volvo continues its efforts in meeting the needs of Volvo drivers in the Dallas area and worldwide.
