Most Texans know what a big deal the annual Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA) Rodeo is and how hard it is to take home a winning title. However, the Volvo XC90 knocked out the competition, defending its title of “CUV of Texas” and adding “Best Interior” and “Luxury CUV of Texas” to its plethora of awards.
"To come to the Texas Truck Rodeo and win a category is impressive enough, to repeat both the category as well as the overall segment award back-to-back says a great deal about just how competitive Volvo’s XC90 is," said Nic Phillips, President, Texas Auto Writers Association.
This year’s TAWA Truck Rodeo took place in the wild Texas Hill Country over the span of two days. During this time, 71 trucks, SUVs and CUVs were tested and evaluated by 50 automotive journalists and over 100 manufacturer representatives. The XC90 not only impressed attendees with its luxe interior, but also with its top-tier safety features and amazing performance.
"Our journalists were overwhelming impressed by the XC90 Excellence’s luxurious interior they named it the best interior of any vehicle at the Texas Truck Rodeo. The T8 plugin hybrid powertrain, the first ever plugin at a Texas Truck Rodeo, was also universally praised. There’s little question in our Member’s opinion the XC90 is a luxury CUV segment leader,” Phillips further explained.
From the Momentum trim to the Excellence trim, the 2017 Volvo XC90 is full of amenities. Standard features include: a hands-free power tailgate, leatherette upholstery, keyless entry and ignition, panoramic sunroof, a 10-speaker audio system and a 9-inch touchscreen with navigation, smartphone integration and voice controls. Automatic headlights, automatic emergency braking, run-off road protection and a frontal collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection start off the CUV’s safety equipment.
