Volvo Announces 2023 Lineup Will Be Only Hybrid or Electric Vehicles

Volvo has recently announced that its entire lineup from 2023 will be hybrid and electric vehicles only. This will include options that can get OTA updates. These vehicles will be out this summer.

Electric Vehicles

Vehicles like the XC90 and the XC40 SUVs, as well as the V60 Cross Country, will now all have milt-hybrid engines, according to a recent release. Volvo is doing this to fulfill its promise to make sure they support sustainability and electric capability through every range of vehicles they have.

This is another step forward towards their goal of being electric-only by 2030. They also are aiming to be completely carbon neutral by the year 2040. The architecture they are using for the new vehicles is the same as it was for the older hybrid models. This includes battery design for battery electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids. Lightweighting was a major process used for the development of all of Volvo's relevant vehicles.

Mild Hybrids

Volvo has noted that for consumers who don't have any easy way of accessing charging stations in public, the mild hybrids make everything more efficient and don't actually need to be plugged in directly due to this efficiency. It also has the traditional gas fuel source, so there will still be plenty of familiarity for those wishing to make the transition in a more gradual fashion.

For those who do want a more direct transition, the battery-electric XC40 Recharge has a small luxury SUV option that has 402 horsepower with its electric batteries. There's also a C40 luxury crossover that also has zero tailpipe emissions.

Both of these have all of the standard features like Google Assistant, Google Play, and Google Maps built-in. The OTA updates also mean that the vehicles can be upgraded on the fly. Most new Volvo options from 2023 will also have many options like colors, wheels, grilles, and much else besides, all in line with consumer preference.
