This new vehicle will come with five radars, eight cameras, and 16 ultrasonic radars, as well as the LiDAR system, operated from lasers. These are quite a few sensors, and they combine to help the system detect just about everything from the world. It creates a 360-degree system that will show in real-time what is happening. The LiDAR options will be on the roof of the car so that it can perform feats like detecting pedestrians up to hundreds of feet away, giving plenty of time to stop the vehicle before there is any danger. It can do this even if the pedestrian is lying on the road, even at night within a certain distance.
The system will also be able to use sensors as well as predictive algorithms to help them interpret behavior within the car as well. For example, the system will be able to understand if a driver becomes sick. If this does happen, the vehicle will be able to bring itself to a stop automatically to avoid potential accidents. It will also be able to tell when a driver is dangerously distracted or if they are closing their eyes for too long at a time, for example. It can then alert them of this fact if this is happening.
