By transitioning from a 400-volt to an advanced 800-volt electrical architecture, the 2026 Volvo EX90 offers noticeably faster charging speeds. Owners will certainly appreciate the reduced downtime. It takes approximately 10 minutes to add up to 155 miles of range at a DC fast-charging station. Upgraded battery-management software also enables energy to be used more efficiently.
Other Upgrades
For the 2026 model year, Volvo’s flagship electric SUV receives several other significant upgrades. Trims equipped with Volvo’s Twin Motor all-wheel drive powertrain now deliver more power. While the base Twin Motor system develops up to 449 horsepower and 494 lb-ft of torque, the Performance version generates up to 670 horsepower and 642 lb-ft of torque. Drivers can look forward to enjoying even quicker acceleration than before.
An upgraded suite of advanced driver-assistance features takes safety to the next level. If an unresponsive driver is detected behind the wheel, Emergency Stop Assist can bring the vehicle to a controlled stop and activate the hazard lights to warn nearby motorists. The system can even automatically call for help, giving drivers extra peace of mind. Meanwhile, real-time Connected Safety hazard alerts warn drivers of potential dangers ahead, including large animals crossing the street and upcoming road work.
The EX90’s previously optional electrochromic glass roof also now comes standard across the lineup. It allows drivers to adjust the glass’s tint and transparency at the touch of a button, eliminating the need for a physical sunshade.
