To make life easier and more convenient for its electric vehicle owners, Volvo is introducing new public charging functionality for its EX60 and EX90 vehicles in the US. Now, owners can simply plug in their vehicles at a public charging station anywhere in the country and start charging without needing to use an app or swipe a credit card, which also provides more peace of mind.
When Can Drivers Expect the Change?
Drivers will be able to start using Volvo’s new technology soon. The charging functionality is already available for the EX90, and EX60 owners will be able to use the technology before the end of the year. Volvo EX60 and EX90 owners can enjoy the Plug & Charge feature at locations nationwide, including Supercharger stations and IONNA charging stations. Collectively, Volvo owners will have access to Plug & Charge features at 35,000 charging stations nationwide. By finding convenient charging options within a short distance, drivers will reduce the time they spend charging and have more time on the road. While drivers will no longer need an app to charge at a public charging station, they can still conveniently use Google technology to locate compatible public charing stations on the go. Drivers can find participating public charging stations through Google Maps, and more stations will be added as Volvo extends its Plug & Charge technology to more charging stations later on.
