The 2026 Volvo XC90 is a standout SUV for many reasons. This year, the XC90 enjoys a refresh coming off the 2026 model year. The latest refresh includes changes to the XC90’s interior and exterior design. The infotainment system also gets an update in the latest model year. Aside from the recent changes, the XC90 carries over with top-notch safety features and cutting-edge technology, along with a stylish design and a comfortable interior. If you’re deciding which trim level to get, the base Core model has many salient features, and the Plus adds some additional amenities that you and your family are sure to appreciate.
Performance
Both the Core and the Plus have the same standard mechanical system, which is a 2.0L four-cylinder turbo engine that produces 247 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque. This engine is also paired with a 48V electric motor. With both trims, you have the option of upgrading to a stronger powertrain. Stepping up from the base powertrain, you can choose to get a stronger engine that produces 295 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. You can also get a plug-in hybrid version that generates up to 455 horsepower and 523 pound-feet of torque. With the plug-in hybrid powertrain, your Volvo will get up to 32 miles of all-electric power on a full charge before you need to plug the car in again. All-wheel drive is standard on both trims, as is an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The Core comes with standard 20-inch alloy wheels. The Core also has a power liftgate and auto-dimming side mirrors. The Core has a standard panoramic sunroof so that you can enjoy maximum sunlight exposure on the road. With this trim, you’ll also get a classy gear shift knob encased in crystal.
The Plus has a slightly different exterior with larger 21-inch wheels. This trim also has fortified soundproof windows in the second row.
