Volvo Engine Not Working

It's possible that your automobile isn't going to start when you go to ignite the engine, and this can be a situation that occurs without warning. There are other instances where you may notice you're having trouble with a startup here and there. Crest Volvo recommends that you have the issue checked out before it becomes a persistent concern. This can prevent you from being inconvenienced the next time you head out on a road trip, or you need to get to work in a hurry.

There are some common problems that our technicians often diagnose at our service center in Frisco.

Battery Trouble

Battery trouble can occur in a number of different ways. For example, your battery might have become drained without you realizing it. This can happen if you accidentally leave a door open overnight or you've left your headlights on for a number of hours. There may be the potential for your battery to be nearing its end of life. It might not be holding a charge properly. We can test your battery to see what's going on.

Ignition Concerns

A faulty ignition is a common problem that contributes to your vehicle not starting. Your battery is likely fine if you see things like your headlights working properly. We will check your ignition switch to see if there's a bad connection in that location. It's a pretty simple part to replace, and we can get you back on the road quickly.

Bad Starter

Your starter functions as a small motor that's electrically powered by your battery. This is a function that is used to start your automobile when you press the ignition. Have you heard a clicking sound when you try to start your automobile? This is a sign of a bad starter.

Time to Change Your Fuel Filter

It would help if you had adequate fuel levels to get to your engine to engage the startup process. If this doesn't occur, you're not going to get enough power going to run that motor. Fuel may not be getting into your engine because of a clogged fuel filter. This is common around the 20,000 to 30,000-mile marker. Check your owner's manual for more information on the recommended time frame for changing your fuel filter.

You're Running on Empty

It's really common for people to be so busy that they forget they need to fill their gas tank. Despite those alerts from your dashboard saying that you're almost out, you forgot to stop by the pumps. Now you're stranded without fuel to get your engine going.

Reach out to Crest Volvo if you are concerned that your engine won't start. If you don't know what the cause may be, we can help you diagnose a problem by going through the common issues discussed above.

EV Tax Credit and Charger Incentives

Federal EV Tax Credit
Federal incentives for electric vehicles are undergoing significant changes. The Clean Vehicle Credit, worth up to $7,500, is currently set to end on September 30, 2025, unless Congress takes action to extend it. If you’re also considering installing a home charging system, be aware that the related tax credit will end on June 30, 2026. Both programs offer savings opportunities, but timing is essential.
