What's New for the 2026 Volvo EX40?
The Volvo EX40 is a nimble and eye-catching luxury electric SUV. The EX40 goes unchanged for the 2026 model year, following some updates in 2025. Last year, the EX40 added the option of a Black Edition aesthetics package, and consumers could also choose a Performance software upgrade. The EX40's charging system was also updated last year to enable quicker charging. For 2026, following that list of updates, the EX40 carries over unchanged.
What Are the 2026 EX40 Trims & Features?
Starting off the EX40 lineup is the Core model. This base trim level has plenty to offer with 19-inch wheels and a power liftgate for convenience. The Core also has standard heated front seats and dual-zone climate control. The driver's seat also has memory settings. For technology, you'll get Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and Google Assistant. Wireless phone charging is also included with the Core, along with an infotainment display screen and a separate digital instrument display.
The Plus follows with some upgrades, including a panoramic sunroof, fog lights, a glossy black exterior trim detail, and a power-adjustable front passenger seat. More safety aids come with this trim level.
The Ultra follows with more standard features, including larger 20-inch wheels, a black roof, custom headlights, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, a heat pump, and an upgraded Harman Kardon sound system. This trim level also adds some standard safety features.

How Much Horsepower Does the 2026 EX40 Have?
The EX40 is available with either one or two electric motors. If you go with the Single Motor Extended Range, you'll get a power output of 248 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque, which comes with rear-wheel drive. You can also get the Twin Motor configuration, which outfits the EX40 with two electric motors instead of one. This configuration gives you up to 402 horsepower and 494 pound-feet of torque. The dual electric motor system comes with all-wheel drive.
Regardless of whether you get the single or double electric motor configuration, the EX40 comes standard with an 82kWh battery that enables up to 296 miles of range with the single motor configuration and up to 260 miles of range with the dual electric motor configuration.

For safety, the EX40's standard features include rear automatic braking, forward collision warning, blind-spot warning, lane-keep assist, and lane departure warning.
