What's New for the 2026 Volvo XC90?

After receiving an eye-catching refresh last year, the XC90 returns for the 2026 model year with no major changes.

What Are the 2026 XC90 Trims & Features?

Volvo offers the new XC90 in three trim configurations: Core, Plus, and Ultra. Even the entry-level Core trim provides upscale amenities. Highlights include four-zone automatic climate control, a panoramic roof, a 9.0-inch infotainment display with Google built-in, and heated front seats with power lumbar support.

The XC90 Plus replaces the Core trim's leatherette seat upholstery with leather. When parking, you can take advantage of this trim's 360-degree camera system. Heated rear seats, high-level interior illumination, and an integrated child booster cushion are included as well.

Atop the lineup sits the more elegant Ultra trim. While its ventilated front seats with power side bolsters elevate comfort, a head-up display projects key driving info onto the lower windshield for easier viewing. A 14-speaker Harman Kardon premium sound system, a crystal gear selector knob, and Nappa leather upholstery also come equipped on the range-topping XC90 Ultra.

How Much Horsepower Does the 2026 XC90 Have?

The XC90's standard power source is a 2.0-liter, turbo four-cylinder engine with mild-hybrid technology. It's rated to develop a competitive 247 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque. An eight-speed automatic gearbox feeds power to an all-wheel drive system. Volvo rates the new XC90 to tow up to 5,000 pounds, which means you can confidently pull small camping trailers and boats. Keep in mind that you can step up to an even stronger turbo four-cylinder engine, which develops a stout 295 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. It also benefits from mild-hybrid technology.

What Safety Features Does the 2026 XC90 Include?

The XC90 continues to rank among the safest SUVs in the segment. Its excellent impact protection enables families to travel with an extra sense of security. Volvo also equips the XC90 with a slew of standard driver-assistance technologies. While a Blind Spot Information System warns you of vehicles approaching from the rear, Adaptive Cruise Control automatically adjusts your speed when traffic begins to slow. Automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-keep assist, and parking sensors come standard as well.
