Volvo has offered powerful and efficient hybrid options for several years, beginning with the 2013 V60 PHEV and evolving through the T8 powertrain on the S60, S90, XC60, XC90. In addition to improving fuel efficiency, the T8 engine generates an immense 400 horsepower and 472 pound-feet of torque and provides an all-electric range of 18-21 miles depending on vehicle weight. However, the Volvo XC40 was unfortunately excluded from the T8 powerplant.
